Rep. Summers Partners with Churches, Community Organizations for Week of Walking Into Victory in Effort to Combat Violence

Jackson, MS – It is not enough to talk about the problem. We must promote solutions to better our community. That is why Representative Zakiya Summers, in partnership with churches, community organizations, and individuals, will host a “Week of Walking Into Victory” during October 19-24, 2020. Events will take place inside Bottom Gardens, located across from Lake Elementary School (472 Mt. Vernon Ave.) in West Jackson, MS.

Activities include a Job & Resource Fair, Health Fair, School Supply Giveaway, Food Box Giveaway, and Community Clean-Up. This wonderful week of events is an effort to provide access and services to the West Jackson community. All activities are free and open to the public.

The Community Clean-Up will focus on Capitol Street from I-220 to the Jackson Zoo. The goal is to help make that area look and feel more inviting for guests who are visiting the Jackson Zoo. The Zoo Area Progressive Partnership (ZAPP) is leading this effort.

Program partners include: Jayne Avenue Neighborhood Association, Rosemont M.B. Church, Judge Kenny Lewis, Revitalize MS, District 3 Supervisor Credell Calhoun, Rising Sun M.B. Church, Common Ground Church Partnership, Zoo Area Progressive Partnership, U Be The Chef, Mississippi MOVE, and The Bottom Rebuilders.
