Representative Zakiya Summers Completes National Fellowship Program
Jackson, MS – Representative Zakiya Summers recently graduated from the highly selective fellowship program founded by Stacey Abrams. The 2nd Annual Fair Fight Action (FFA) National Fellowship brought together legislators from twelve states to engage in a six-month program devoted to expanding knowledge and awareness of issues of utmost importance to the organization. Training for FFA Senior Fellows also included a wide range of topics such as fundraising, grassroots organizing and voter protection to expand the quality of leadership within the progressive ecosystem. Rep. Summers was the only legislator appointed to the fellowship program from Mississippi.
“The Fair Fight Action National Fellowship was a unique opportunity for me to expand my understanding of various topics and issues in order to improve my leadership abilities to District 68 and the great state of Mississippi,” said Rep. Summers. “As a proud Mississippian, I want to ensure that I’m doing all that I can to strengthen my toolbox in an effort to empower the community and move the state forward.”
“One of the most beneficial components of the program was engaging and learning from colleagues in other states. I intend on leveraging those resources and relationships to help build a bright future for everyone in the Magnolia State,” Rep. Summers added.
Rep. Summers is running for re-election and will be on the August 8th Primary Election ballot. You can contact her at www.zakiyasummers.com or on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
The Fair Fight National Fellowship Program will continue to support and develop the next generation of strong progressive leaders across the South. To learn more, visit fairfight.com.
